Position Overview
Senior Cloud Architect
The Senior Cloud Architect will develop, implement and manage the systems that comprise the cloud infrastructure for the company’s cloud operations. They will direct report staff, administrate cloud systems, balance workloads and provide a 24/7 uptime environment for all PaaS/SaaS and database operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop techniques and procedures for conducting the perpetual evaluation of infrastructure resiliency through disaster emulation to eliminate points of failure
- Provide leadership and direction in multiple technology domains and project initiatives including AWS, Bitbucket Cloud, virtualization, storage, Linux, database, automation, and containerization
- Collaborate with the Software Development team, IT infrastructure staff, Help Desk Staff to facilitate communication and development of Cloud-based initiatives
- Define tools used for monitoring and alerting cloud systems
- Daily administration and troubleshooting of physical and virtual endpoints to include vulnerability patching, third party patching, OS and driver updates, application deployments
- Actively and continually optimize AWS resources to ensure lowest cost while ensuring security, scalability, and high availability
- Work closely with IT security to monitor the company’s cloud infrastructure.

- Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferred or equivalent experience required
- Required Experience:
- 2-3 years experience working with container-based technologies and orchestration in a production environment (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS)
- Minimum 5 years working in DevOps as a hands-on infrastructure engineer (Linux environment)
- Expert-level knowledge working with Java Web Stacks (Tomcat)
- Designed and assisted in the implementation of serverless architecture model (SAM) using API Gateway, AWS Lambda, AWS Cognito, AWS S3 and AWS DynamoDB.
- Extensive experience hosting database operations such as MySQL, AWS RDS, and NoSQL databases
- Expert-level knowledge with AWS design, architecture, and services (EC2, S3, ELB, etc.)
- Familiarity with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Familiarity with CI/CD fundamentals (Bitbucket Pipeline, Github Actions)
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and associated tools (Jira)
- Availability to work non-standard hours during Maintenance Windows, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery &/or security incidents
