Position Overview

Cloud Infrastructure Manager Job Description

The Cloud Infrastructure Manager will develop, implement and manage the systems that comprise the cloud infrastructure for the company’s cloud operations. The manager will direct report staff, administrate cloud systems, balance workloads and provide a 24/7 uptime environment for all PaaS/SaaS and database operations. This position reports to the VP of Engineering.

The Cloud Infrastructure Manager is also responsible for data security and compliance aspects for all cloud transactions. You must have the ability to lead effectively in a very small remote team with on-call responsibilities. In addition, you must be results oriented, willing to accept challenges dynamically, and prioritize accordingly to business needs as the company grows.


Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train direct reports, IT staff, and product support engineers on all aspects of the Cloud platform, infrastructure security, and evolution of system development
  • Develop techniques and procedures for conducting the perpetual evaluation of infrastructure resiliency through disaster emulation to eliminate points of failure
  • Provide leadership and direction in multiple technology domains and project initiatives including AWS, Bitbucket Cloud, virtualization, storage, Linux and Windows servers, database, automation, and containerization
  • Collaborate with the Software Development team, IT infrastructure staff, Help Desk Staff to facilitate communication and development of Cloud-based initiatives
  • Daily administration and troubleshooting of physical and virtual endpoints to include vulnerability patching, third party patching, OS and driver updates, application deployments
  • Conduct biannual Cloud security penetration testing, provide project updates including action items related to continuous improvement for IT Security

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferred
  • Required Experience:  
    • 2-3 years of experience working with container-based technologies and orchestration in a production environment (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS)
    • Minimum 5 years working in DevOps as a hands-on infrastructure engineer (Linux environment)
    • Expert-level knowledge working with Java Web Stacks (Tomcat)
    • Extensive experience hosting database operations such as MySQL, AWS RDS, and NoSQL databases
    • Expert-level knowledge with AWS design, architecture, and services (EC2, S3, ELB, etc.)
    • Familiarity with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
    • Familiarity with CI/CD fundamentals (Bitbucket Pipeline, Github Actions)
    • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and associated tools (Jira)
    • Availability to work non-standard hours during Maintenance Windows, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery &/or security incidents
